Climate
A common misconception about Morocco is that it is scorching hot all year round. However, being a country on the Mediterranean, Morocco actually has four distinct seasons. Average daily temperature weather in Morocco varies from 20 degrees at the lowest in winter to 37 degrees in summer. The nights in winter are fresh and temperatures can drop to 5 degrees. Though temperatures vary, Morocco is usually very sunny, making it a perfect holiday destination. In this blog, you will read all about Climate Marrakech and Morocco.
Here is an overview of what to expect in Morocco by month:
June-August(summer)
The summers in Morocco are hot with daytime temperatures around 37 degrees Celsius. These months are summer months, with Morocco at its hottest. There may be heat storms. The temperature will depend on where you are at in the country: whether you are in the desert or by the coast. The Sahara will be extremely hot in these months, and you’ll only want to be out in the sand in the morning or cooler evening. Thus, it is important to stay hydrated, stay calm and avoid overspending. Don’t be fooled by the extreme heat in the day… nights can be a lot colder, so you’ll want to have some warm clothing. To avoid cold, you can always opt for a swimming pool of your hotel, which is very hot and you can bathe several times a day.
There is usually very little rainfall during these months. It does not rain in the summer, except few possible very localized heat storms.
Marrakech Climate: with those high summer temperatures, it’s best you adapt to the Moroccan rhythm. Wake up early and visit some monuments between 09 and 11 am. Then go back to your hotel for relaxing/ lunch and siesta next to the swimming pool. Marrakech wakes up after 6 pm again, so join the locals and go take some fresh and cool air, strolling on the Djemaa el Fna. Shops will stay open until midnight!
September-October(Autumn)
Autumn is deemed to be the best season because the days are long and temperatures are very pleasant(25 to 35 degrees). Fall in Morocco is pretty mild, and you’ll enjoy the temperatures when you are there. Rainfall is most important in late autumn and there is a chance it may rain overnight, rarely all day. So, you can visit Marrakech during this time as it never rains continuously for hours.
Marrakech climate: winter! (November-Feb)
Winter in Morocco is very pleasant, with average temperatures at 20 degrees during the day and an intense blue sky. But temperatures at night can be very fresh, down to 5 degrees. In the mountains, it will get cold enough for there to be some snow. It is therefore important to bring warm clothes for the winter evenings. During this season, it mostly is still very nice and sunny during the day. It’s is important your hotel has air-conditioning, which you can use as a heater during the winter nights. As does our Riad Orange.
Rains are usually very strong but brief, in January or February. There is an average of about 2 inches or less a month, with the most rain coming in November. Weather gets quickly back to the usual blue sky, but cloudy days might last for a few days only at the worst.
Marrakech Climate: Spring! (March-May)
Spring, along with autumn, is usually the best time to visit Morocco. Temperatures are pleasant and it is sunny. Spring is also a beautiful time for the landscape of Morocco as everything is bright and green. Although April and May are rainy months, you won’t get too much rain with an average of about 2 inches or less each month.
