Astrid & Mohammed bought the Riad in 2018 from the previous French owner. She had bought it 30 years before from a Moroccan family.
After some renovations (mainly the roof-terrace and the kitchen) Riad Orange opened it’s doors for visitors from all over the world.
While renovating the roof terrace they discovere that their Riad near the Bahia Palace is in fact over 200 years old! The Riad is made out of thick adobe walls (traditional clay architecture). This declares the healthy atmosphere you feel once you’re inside this little palace.
The historical building is now equipped with solar panels to provide the guests with hot water.
Astrid Emmers is Dutch, but worked in Morocco for ten years when she falls in love with this beautiful, light Riad.
Mohammed Lemnaouar is born in the Dades-valley in the south of Morocco and is a proud Berber, born and raised in tourism.
They met twelve years before in the Lemnaouar Family hotel: Kasbah Tizzarouine.
Together they created and still run their travel agency Dades Voyages. They are proud parents of Charif (2013) and Hind (2016). The kids speak four languages and love to spend time in Riad Orange.
Astrid is also the author of the Dutch travel-guide Time to Momo Marrakech, which takes you to the hidden spots of Marrakech in three walking routes.
