Hanout

Hanout Marrakech is a unique boutique

The word Hanout may sound familiar to you when you think of Morocco? Worldwide, Ras-el-Hanout is known as the tastemaker of Morocco. You can translate it as the best spice mix of the shop and cumin is one of the main ingredients. It is common in Moroccan cuisine uses and will make your dishes smell and taste delicious. But we also think of the word Hanout as a shop in Marrakech, where the best combination is made in the area of beautiful fabrics, old clothing techniques, and unique designs. This store is called Hanout Boutique.

The Moroccan Meriem Nour-Rawlings could one day make her dream come true in London! She found love and passion for fashion here, through her studies at the respectable St Martin School. The first collection of Kaftans was so popular that the Selfridges department store added the line to its range. Her successful style of design has emerged from the beautiful Moroccan clothing, given a modern look. Handmade embroidery patterns adorn the clothes, antique jewelry of the Berber women from the High Atlas is incorporated in her designs, and yet she knows how to give it a timeless look.

Meriem and her husband are now based in dynamic Marrakech. And a boutique could not wait. She opened her first shop in the well-known Mouassine district and the same street as Jardin Secret. When we walked by, we fell in love with the beautiful garment that the mannequin wore, alternated every time. Or we saw Meriem herself refining a garment. Her designs are made with local craftsmen and she also knows the needle and thread extremely well.

Design shopping at Hanout Marrakech

Nowadays we no longer have to walk far, because to our joy a second Hanout Boutique opened. It’s a stone’s throw away from our Riad Orange. This shop is located in the Riad Zitoun Area and next to the hotspots in the city; the Bahia Palace and the beautiful Moroccan Culinary Art Museum. A cultural day can be well combined with a visit to this Hanout Marrakech to purchase a beautiful luxurious garment.

Every year there are two collections and every time it is diverse. The base remains the same through its use of Sfifa (decorated band), beads, embroidery and tunics, and kaftans cast in silk, linen, and cotton. But the effect is different or with different use of color inspired by its season. You can also find great coats here where leather is fashionably incorporated. Or how about a pair of original kilim boots? Her kimonos are so beautifully finished that, wearing them, you will imagine yourself in a fairy tale of One Thousand and 1 Nights.

The second store is located in a larger building than the boutique in the north of the medina and is beautifully situated next to a Bab (gate). You will also find Meriem here, who would like to provide you clothing advice. This is the store where you will succeed if you appreciate a unique and modern piece of haute couture as a souvenir of your visit to Marrakech. Design shopping was never before so much fun as at this Hanout Marrakech!
