Some Slow Concept Store

Slow Concept Store: Marrakech design in a Villa Boutique

Under the French protectorate at the beginning of the 20th century, Marrakech was expanded with a Ville Nouvelle (new town) just outside the city walls of the medina. The districts of Hivernage, Majorelle, and Gueliz were laid out according to French architecture and can be recognized by the wide and straight avenues. A great contrast to the old town with its many small streets. In these neighborhoods, beautiful villas were built for dignitaries. Today, the Gueliz district is hugely changed and the villas had to make way for apartment complexes, because of the massive population growth. Yet you will still find houses that are reminiscent of earlier times. In those streets, you will find the SOME Slow Concept Store full of Marrakech design.

Noemi and Mathilde had the luck and patience to have a beautiful villa from 1936 to buy. The spacious villa with 6 rooms is located in the heart of Gueliz and not far from Carre Eden Shopping Centre. In the street, you will find an old cinema and a hotel (both no longer open). It is an attractive green street behind the busy Avenue Mohammed V where you can easily walk to the SOME slow Concept Store. The beautiful villa in the Marrakech’ red has an inviting entrance. It feels like you are visiting someone’s “home”!

The owners Noemi (interior designer) and Mathilde (originally a lawyer with a thesis of sustainable development in Marrakech to her name) have been living in Marrakech for more than 10 years. They love the city and the way of life in Morocco! Compared to the west, life here has its own pace. They have developed two Marrakech design brands No.M (Noemi) and Casabeldi (Mathilde) and collaborate with local craftsmen. Products are delivered in high quality and completely according to your wishes, they take the lead in this process time…. SOME SLOW CONCEPT has emerged over time!

The Gueliz district is easy to reach by taxi and if you are sporty, you can walk there in 45 minutes from Riad Orange. Which will give you many impressions of the New city! It is a completely different world from the old town and this contrast makes it worth a visit. Also if you are interested in Marrakech design, you can indulge yourself in the beautiful shop of Some slow concept.

The unique pieces can be viewed across the floors of the villa and are nicely displayed in the different rooms. With the idea of trendy recycling of everyday stuff, Moroccan tableware in a modern jacket and typical Moroccan carpets show a contemporary touch that has developed in their style. The carpets are mainly made by Moroccan women who are affiliated with the “Le Savoir au village” foundation. They learn to become entrepreneurs themselves and are supported throughout the process. A good initiative on a local level!

In the store, you will find many more Marrakech design items, such as lamps, furniture, bags, cushions, books, and a deli. Here you can buy local products from the region. It smells delicious! After all the impressions of the beautiful things, you can take a seat in the attractive garden adjacent to the villa. It is nicely decorated with several shady spots.
