Travel Documents
If you’re traveling to Marrakech, one of the first questions (even before buying your ticket) would be: do you need a visa for Marrakech?
We can assure you: Nationals of over 70 countries and territories can enter Morocco without a visa. Most — like the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States, and all the member states of the European Union — can stay for up to 90 days. Singapore passport-holders can stay for up to 30 days.
However, rest of the countries which are not mentioned in the list require visa for visiting Morocco.
When entering as a tourist, your passport should also be valid for at least three months after your date of entry, and mustn’t be damaged in any way. Make sure that your passport is stamped when entering the country. Occasionally, tourists have encountered difficulties leaving Morocco because authorities couldn’t see an entry stamp.

Permanent Visa and Immigration
If you want to settle in Morocco, you need to apply for a permanent visa, also called “la carte”.
It’s best to inquire directly at the immigration office in your Marrakech district about what exactly you’ll need. Expect to go through a lot of bureaucracy while you’re sorting out your paperwork. It might take months and you might even have to travel back to your home country for more papers!
Required documentation, in general, includes application forms, passport photos, a criminal background record check, a copy of your passport, birth certificate, bank statement, and medical certificate from a local doctor.
You may also need to have a rental contract and a police form, and some of these documents need to be translated into Arabic or French. Of course, if you are applying as a student or an employee, you also have to submit documents that prove your status.
It all depends on the status you are applying for. Are you married to a Moroccan? Do you want to start your own business in Marrakech? Or do you have income in another country and want to invest in Marrakech real estate? A good option is also to spend your retirement in Morocco.
