Le Jardin

Le Jardin Marrakech is the green heart of the medina.

Marrakech is THE garden city of Morocco! There are beautiful green oases hidden in the small streets of the Medina. And you’ve probably heard of the city’s most visited garden: Jardin Majorelle. The gardens you can visit will enchant you, but also your taste buds will be triggered. Because… how about having lunch or dinner in a beautiful garden?

The owner Kamal  Laftimi got the taste after the successful opening of  Terasse  des  Epices and bought a dilapidated Riad with four gardens. His foresight to transform this authentic 18th century Riad into an outdoor restaurant has proved to be a valuable addition to Marrakech. The outdoor restaurant is christened with the appropriate name Le Jardin and lets you get familiar with the beauty of a Moroccan courtyard. Also, you can get to know the delicious Moroccan cuisine with Mediterranean influences. For many years, Le Jardin has been one of our favorite restaurants to enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Upon entering, you will be embraced by a serene tranquility and let the hustle and bustle of the medina slip away from you. The courtyard is decorated by architect Anne  Favier. She was inspired by the traditional Moroccan décor and applied touches of the style “French chic”. Through the use of zellige and the construction of the beautiful garden, the whole has grown into a true green oasis. You can relax under a banana tree or under one of the other fruittrees. The decoration with Moroccan items such as tapestries and fairytale lamps make the whole an atmospheric setting. There is also a real turtle walking around as a host.  Le  jardin  Marrakech  is thus certainly a suitable place to visit with children!

The menu

Once you have taken a seat and let the beautiful garden work on you, the menu will be presented to you. For every gourmet there is a choice to make from the delicate starters, main courses and desserts. Vegetarian dishes are also included in the offer.

The dishes are freshly prepared daily with local products. You can order a traditional dish like Couscous or choose a delicious chicken tajine, sweetened with pears. The delicious briouattes (soufflés) with various fillings are also recommended. Do you want to experience a surprising taste explosion? Then we recommend the date dessert enriched with caramel in combination with Ras-el-Hanout. You can also go to Le Jardin Marrakech for a refreshing drink, a mocktail or a delicious homemade milkshake. In all honesty, everything on the menu is a feast!

In high season it is advisable to reserve a table. The hostess or host of Riad Orange can do this for you with pleasure.

Shopping tip! Designer Norya  Ayron opened her boutique on the first floor of the restaurant where you can find her unique kaftans, bags and accessories.

An insider tip! This green oasis is hidden in the web of the many small souk streets in the Mouassine district. This district is also known for its hip shops, such as the Max & Jan Concept store or cultural attractions such as Dar el Bacha. If you are not so well known in the medina of Marrakech, you can easily find Le Jardin. Follow the signs you find in Rue Mouassine and you will end up in front of the surprisingly small door of the restaurant. If you are a bit longer, do not forget to bend down ;)
